The youth of St. Andrew’s are invited to participate in activities beyond that of Sunday School, some directly related to the church services, and others with groups in and out of the church.
Acolytes assist the clergy in leading worship at the Sunday services each weekend and for all special liturgies, including weddings and funerals. They light and extinguish candles, carry the processional cross and the candles, carry banners and flags, hold the Gospel book when requested, and assist the priests during Communion in the preparation of the altar for Eucharist. These young folks really do help with making the service go!
Youth in grades 6 – 12 are invited to participate in this ministry. Talk with Father Tim if you might be interested.
During our Sunday services, youth in grades 9-12 operate the sound system and record most of the sermons. Parishioners can view these recordings here. During worship, the teens monitor the special audio equipment that is housed in the balcony to ensure that it is operating properly. The Team also assists with audio/visual needs during programs (adult forums, suppers, and other special events) that occur in the Parish Hall and the Multipurpose Room.
