El Hogar PDF Print E-mail

The mission of El Hogar Ministries, Inc. is to assist in the improvement of social and educational conditions in Honduras, principally by supporting El Hogar Projects. El Hogar Ministries, Inc. raises funds and maintains an office for coordination and communication with North American sponsors, contributors and outreach groups which form a sacred community of service and are the backbone of financial support for the 200 children at the three schools and homes of El Hogar Projects.

The Episcopal Relief and Development office of the Episcopal Church USA provides emergency assistance in times of disaster, rebuilds devastated communities, and offers aid to developing countries around the world. ERD has just granted El Hogar significant support to launch a new community development initiative through El Hogar’s Agricultural School and Farm. This multi-year grant from ERD is a partnership that not only recognizes the quality of El Hogar’s Agricultural School, but demonstrates the way both El Hogar and ERD are directly supporting the UN Millennium Development Goal to eliminate extreme poverty by 2015.

Transitional Housing Program PDF Print E-mail

The Transitional Housing Program is designed to assist families that are starting out with almost nothing. The Transitional Housing Corporation (THC) provides an apartment and St. Andrew's parishioners provide the items to fill it. In 2009 St. Andrew's could help a mother and her two young children who had been without a home.

Preschool Playgroup PDF Print E-mail

The St. Andrew's Preschool Playgroup brings children and their moms or dads together on Tuesday mornings every week.  Toddlers and babies learn to socialize, play well with the other children, share toys, make crafts, and role play, while their parents use the Playgroup as an opportunity to chat, help each other with common parenting worries, and forge new friendships.  All of St. Andrews' pre-school aged children are welcome to participate.  The weekly group takes turns meeting in participating parishioner's homes.  For more information, contact the Church office.

Families with Young Children PDF Print E-mail
St. Andrew’s is hustling and bustling with children of all ages!  From the nursery to the Senior High Youth forum, children are involved in too many activities to count.   To help the families become better acquainted (and learn that people have real names other than “Sara’s mom” and “Joey’s dad”) the parish organizes many activities for families.  Typical activities include the Easter egg hunt, the parish picnic, a morning playgroup, a trip to the pumpkin playground, the St. Nicholas party, Family Movie Night, and the Parents Night Out programs.  There are also several Foyer dinner groups that include families with their children.  Any suggestions for future events for families with young children are welcome!
