Work Camp Care Cards From July 6-13, 2013, several high school students and adults from St. Andrew's will go to Bluefield, Virginia, to help families in need with reconstruction and painting. Every year, we send care cards and packages for each of these volunteers. If you're interested in providing a note or small treat in support of each work camper, please let Debbie or Pam know. Please provide these items by Wednesday, 7/3. Thank you! Canned Food Ingathering The work campers are collecting canned food items to donate to a local food bank in Bluefield, Virginia. Please help by bringing in canned food by June 30. There will be a drop off box, “Work Camp Canned Food Ingathering”, across from the church office. Our goal is to collect 150 cans. Any additional cans collected from this ingathering will be donated to ECHO (due to limited transportation space). NEEDED ITEMS: Canned vegetables & fruits, canned meals (i.e., soup, chili, stew, etc.), canned beans & peas (i.e., black, pinto, lentils), canned meats (i.e., tuna, chicken, salmon), and canned fruit juice. June 23rd - Parish Picnic! Starting immediately after the 10 a.m. service on June 23rd, this year’s parish picnic will be held at Burke Lake Park, in Picnic Area C. Tickets are on sale after each service in June; $5 per person, with a max of $20 for a family. We will have chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, and drinks. Please contribute a salad or dessert to share with everyone. We hope to see you there! July 22-26 - Vacation Bible School It’s not too early to start making summer plans! VBS is from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and is for kids ages 3 ½ (potty trained) to rising 3rd graders. VBS is also looking for teen and adult volunteers. If you are a rising 8th grader or older, please consider signing up to help out this week. Registration forms can be picked up in the Sunday School office, or online here. The fee is $20 per child with a $50 family maximum. Childcare will be provided for volunteers. July 22-26 - Mission Friends Program Mission Friends, an off shoot of VBS, is for rising 4th to rising 7th graders. The focus of our week will be on outreach and service to Christ and others. Each afternoon, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., we will meet at the church for opening devotions led by Father Sandy, and then we will go out into our community to volunteer. Registration Fee is $10 per child (to cover snacks and miscellaneous items). Registration forms can be picked up in the Sunday School office, or online here. |
