Stewardship at St. Andrew’s has several dimensions:

  • Our annual pledges and tithes are used to pay current expenses for ministries, upkeep and outreach.
  • The Ministry for Tomorrow capital campaign raises funds for nave renovation and property acquisition.
  • Planned Giving is the third aspect of our stewardship. Planned giving is stewardship of our assets, rather than of our current income, and is yet another way to respond in thanksgiving for God’s rich blessings that have been bestowed upon us.
Planned Giving is an opportunity to assure that our assets, gifts lent to us by God, will be directed as we intend. In this way, we may contribute to the mission of the Church for future generations, not only through end-of-life planning but also as a productive life-long investment strategy in the near term as well.

The Endowment Board manages the St. Andrew’s Endowment Fund, which includes bequests and planned gifts. The Endowment Fund is not a savings account that can be tapped any time money is needed. Instead, each year a small percentage of the market value of the Endowment Fund is made available to the Vestry. This percentage is carefully determined in order to preserve the principal of the Fund for future growth.

The Endowment Board encourages all parishioners to consider planned giving and end-of-life stewardship, and from time to time offers financial education programs on various topics. Members of the Endowment Board’s Planned Giving Team are available to provide parishioners with information (but not financial advice) about bequests and other planned gifts. The team welcomes the opportunity to provide information and “demystify” some of the process, and will be happy to refer you and your own financial advisers to appropriate informational resources. The Church Office will be happy to put you in touch with Planned Giving team members.

More information may be found in the Planned Giving brochures in the tract rack. Think about how your planned gift can contribute to the ministry of St. Andrew’s in the future!
