Nursery
St. Andrew’s offers a safe and inviting nursery for the care of newborns up to the age of three while their parents attend the Sunday 10:00 a.m. service and the education hour that follows. The Nursery is staffed by a professional caregiver who has experience in early childhood education and has undergone a Diocesan required background check. A rotating roster of parent volunteers also assists in the Nursery. Parents must sign in their child upon arrival and indicate who will be picking up the child upon departure. Sign out is required at all times. A silent pager will be issued to you, should we need to reach you during the service or program. Point of contact: Lisa Wakeley. |

Learning Center and Children's Chapel
This is our very special educational program for children ages three years through the end of second grade. The Bethlehem Room is for children who are three and four years old and expect to enter kindergarten in two year’s time. The Creation Room is for pre-kindergarten children. The Noah’s Ark Room is for children who are in kindergarten. The Genesis Class is for first and second graders. Using the "Hands On Bible" curriculum, children's imaginations are actively engaged as they learn about God. Using a wealth of stories, games, songs, and crafts, children focus on the wonders of creation and the life of Jesus.
Upon their arrival at St. Andrew's parents take their children to the Learning Center classrooms to get their name tags and meet their teachers. Parents sign their children in on an attendance form that also has a spot for any special needs to alert the teachers. When the Chapel bell rings, children sing a special song as they are walked down the hallway. Children's Chapel usually lasts about twenty minutes.

Kid’s Liturgy
Mentored by an adult team of teachers, a special form of worship geared for third, fourth, fifth and sixth graders occurs during the first part of the 10:00 a.m. service and is held in the Parish Hall. Children in Kid’s Liturgy then enter the sanctuary during the exchange of peace and remain with their family through the rest of the 10:00 a.m. service. Once the service is over, these children then go into the education wing to attend Sunday School. Point of contact: Pam Rozelsky. |
Sunday School (Third Grade through 6th Grade)
Sunday School meets immediately following the 10:00 a.m. worship service and lasts until 12:15 p.m. Children who are in third and fourth grade are in the Moses Room. Children who are in grades five and six are in the Mary Room. Sunday School children utilize the “Mustard Seed” curriculum. This program features a Bible reading each week with activities and projects to reinforce the lesson. Classes are taught by volunteers and coordinated by Anne Margaret Ashley (third and fourth grade combined), and Sam Palmer/John Jaskot (fifth and sixth grade combined).
Journey to Adulthood (7th Grade through 12th Grade)
The seventh through twelfth grades are guided by the Journey to Adulthood Program. Classes meet every Sunday morning during the formation hour. The seventh and eighth graders participate in “Rite 13.” Youth who are in ninth and tenth grades participate in the “Journey to Adulthood (J2A) Program." Our oldest youth, those in eleventh and twelfth grades, participate in the “Young Adults in Church Program.” Young people on their Journey to Adulthood are supported and guided by a great group of mentors and resource team members, including Claire Palmer, Jeff Dutton, Chuck Mula, Nancy Tillinghast, Carol Robinson, Mark Foster, Colleen and David Chesterman, Bob Gleason, Dave Belisle, and Rebecca Umberger. More information about J2A activities appears in its own section of the Children and Youth category on this website!

Vacation Bible School
Each summer, young children come together to sing, do arts and crafts, put on plays, share snacks, and learn how to serve God by serving the people and the world around them.
In 2010, the theme of our Vacation Bible School was “ReNew: The Green VBS.” This was an environmentally focused program that inspired children to grown in faith, have fun, while changing the world as they practiced the stewardship of creation. The kids learned how to take care of creation and grow (like seeds) in God’s love. An average of 75 children attended the program, supported by 35 volunteers led by Anne Brannam. In 2010, we also offered a pilot afternoon VBS program for third through sixth graders called Mission Adventures. Led by Amy Dutton, this program introduced elementary aged children to community service and outreach missions. Their projects included gardening on our parish grounds, making sandwiches for a local food bank, and sprucing up Hidden Pond Park.
In 2011, the theme for morning session of Vacation Bible School was "Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus Was A Kid." Tessie Lynch led the morning program and did a wonderful job bringing in youth and adult volunteers to assist. Our Parish Hall was transformed into a Nazareth marketplace. We also offered the afternoon program for third through sixth graders who focused on community service and outreach. Amy Dutton and Vanessa Parks were co-leaders of the afternoon session. |
