St. Andrew’s Transition

Discernment Definition

In July 2019, the Vestry appointed and then commissioned a team of nine individuals, led by January Layman-Wood, to begin the mutual discernment process to identify a Priest-in-Charge for St. Andrew’s. In creating this subcommittee, the Vestry sought to select a team that represents the diversity of our congregation. The team will facilitate the process of parish self-assessment and candidate discernment, with the goal of presenting a candidate to the Vestry for final approval.

Prayer for the Discernment Process

Eternal God, we lay the life of our parish before you in this transitional time as we search for a new Rector. Renew in our Church a sense of your love and mission, that we may serve the people around us and be guided to the priest who will care for this parish and equip us for our ministries. Guide those involved in the discernment process that they may patiently listen and hear what your Spirit says. Give us the grace and power to follow where you would lead, that your Name may be glorified among us and your people strengthened in the work of reconciliation and caring for others. All this we ask through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
